Dr. Seuss does Star Wars
This is a little project that, as is often the case, started off as a throwaway doodle. With a little encouragement from my friend Tom Dougherty, link on the right I turned it into several drawings. Whats fun is that the Star Wars universe really blends with the goofy, strangely-named world of Dr. Seuss pretty easily. I have a couple more of these up my sleeve which I hope I can get around to soon. Stay tuned, and enjoy!

Warp Speed!
The evolution of the warp drive effect from the Star Trek movies, from the spectacular neon streak photography of The Motion Picture through the rather less awesome animated trails of the later TOS movies to the feeble CG of Nemesis, where they couldn’t even be bothered to include the ‘warp stretch’ effect. And what’s with those smoke trails? Has the Enterprise got a cracked manifold? *sigh*

Star Wars: Episode III, Backstroke of the West
a couple of years ago when i was living in shanghai i bought a revenge of the sith dvd off the street. it came with hilariously mangled subtitles that ranged from somewhat close to what the actors were saying to far, far away….

a quick pause in the caption commentary. for a while i couldn’t figure out how the captions got so mangled- i thought maybe it was done by computer, but in some cases like this one the captions make sense but have no relation to what is going on. general grevious is actually saying, “just as count dooku predicted”…

Jawa Cake
A cake for a huge Star Wars geek’s 40th. Rum and Raisin Chocolate cake, 3×6 inch cakes and 1×5 inch carved. All accents are gumpaste or fondant.
“utini!” is the only legible word said by the Jawa in Star Wars and everybody at the party knew exactly what it was.
